PsychoMonday, Jun. 27, 2011 5:40 AMThe court has ruled that Jared Loughner, the suspect in the shooting that injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, is not mentally competent. Loughner's defense team is saying that their client is being forcibly drugged with anti-psychotics. As I asked after the shooting, when the rhetoric coming from certain political and media figures highly resembles (or is indistinguishable from) Loughner's, should we conclude that their grasp of reality is equally tenuous? If it's a guise adopted for the sake of political one-upmanship, wouldn't you expect there to be moments where said political and media figures aren't playing the role? Or do we really have the inmates running the asylum?
