If you played with Legos as a child (or as an adult), here's a nifty time-waster: Minecraft. It's an in-development game that runs on Java, so it plays on Mac/Windows/Linux platforms. There are no rules, no points, no levels to complete - just unstructured play. Dig a mine. Build a castle. However, the game does cost $13 USD (conversion from 9 Euro).
