Thou Shalt Vote

Tuesday, Jun. 08, 2010 3:48 AM

If you are a registered voter in California, today is Election Day. Get out there and vote.

If you're eligible, but aren't registered to vote, why the frack not? If the system is corrupt and/or broken, it's not going to be less so for your pretending to not be a part of it.

Ultimately, if you're not voting, just shut the fuck up. I don't want to hear you complain or whine about how your candidate or issue didn't get a fair shake. Hell, if the problem is that Meg Whitman has spent $70 million on her campaign thus far, not voting only shows that your silence was bought for under $70 million - of which you got not a penny.

If you don't vote, you've ceded your privilege (and responsibility) as a citizen in a democracy, handed over essential decisions not to a majority of those who are better informed or necessarily wiser, just those who took the time to vote.
