Four states held their primary elections yesterday, and incumbent Arlen Specter was probably the day's biggest loser - the Republican-turned-Democrat lost the contest to Joe Sestak.

Elsewhere, Blanche Lincoln is forced into a run-off election against opponent Bill Halter, and Rand Paul wins in Pennsylvania.

So what does it all mean? Nothing. Really, an incumbent shouldn't have any edge other than doing their job well, and hewing to the party line should not be an asset for either side.

The Texas School Board is scheduled to vote today on modifications to the state's textbooks and Social Studies curriculum - downplaying the role of Thomas Jefferson and separation of church and state, while trumpeting the conservative policies of the 1980's & 1990's and presenting a critical view of programs such as Social Security and Medicare. (That's right, kids, your parents are sucking off your future paychecks! How dare they!)

Ted Turner opines that maybe the whole oil spill thing is a 'message from God.'

Ummm ... okay. God Loves Regulation? God Hates Gas? God has it in for shellfish? God still hates New Orleans/Louisiana? (But then, why did the Saints win the Super Bowl?)

Seriously, Ted - when bad things happen, and people write it off as 'God has a plan' or 'God has a message,' it completely negates the role of human greed and stupidity, that such was allowed solely because God wanted to send a message.

And because I'm a gamer, I gotta say this: Dead Red Redemption, the new Western-themed console RPG from Rockstar Games, seriously rocks.
