Fail Safe?

Monday, Apr. 26, 2010 3:43 AM

While assorted talking heads are busy defending Arizona's new anti-illegal immigrant law, one truck driver has claimed he was asked to prove his citizenship before the bill was even signed into Arizona law.

I'm certainly willing to wait for more facts to come to light, but I'd love to hear what 'reasonable suspicion' led to the request.

A web-ad for Toyota claims their electronic controls are 'fail safe.'

Bullshit.

The correct use of the term 'fail safe' means that upon failure of the braking software, it should disengage and braking become a fully manual operation (i.e. step on brake pedal, car slows).

Congratulations to the San Jose Sharks, who defeated the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night, 5-2, to advance to the second round of NHL Playoffs.

Their next opponent may be determined by the outcome of tonight's game between the Nashville Predators and the Chicago Blackhawks. (If the series goes to seven games, it won't be determined until Wednesday night.)

And another round of applause for the Giants' Barry Zito, who was in top form against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night, pitching eight complete innings and chalking up his 13th career game with 10+ strikeouts.
