On The RecordWednesday, Mar. 03, 2010 4:21 AMSenator Jim Bunning (R-Kentucky) has relented, and the Senate has passed the emergency extension on unemployment benefits and highway funding that he'd been blocking. Bunning insists that it's because 'we' shouldn't be passing a bill that 'we' can't pay for, because why would the American people believe 'we' will pay for anything? Who is 'we' if it's separate from the American people? And where was this fiscal outrage when the Bush Administration was pissing money away in the Middle East, or pushing the $700+ billion TARP boondoggle? The San Jose City Council has ruled that its members must disclose all text messages and e-mails sent during council meetings, and any personal texts/e-mails related to city business so as to accurately reflect the dialogue within city government and discourage lobbyists from communicating with councilmembers during votes and council sessions. Similarly, the new State Assembly Speaker, John Perez, has asked that all members silence their cell phones, pagers, and PDAs while in session. Argh. Just had a coworker with one of those icky, chest-deep coughs come into my workspace and cough several times. "It's okay, I'm on antibiotics," she said. I don't care if you are. STAY AWAY FROM ME.
