The Wrong Kind of Values

Tuesday, Jul. 14, 2009 3:54 AM

It takes chutzpah to lecture Judge Sonia Sotamayor on prejudice, particularly when you're Senator Jeff Sessions.

Sessions used his opening remarks to lob rocks at Sotamayor's 'wise Latina' comment - a comment that has been shown to have been taken out of context from a speech she gave in 2001.

In 1986, Sessions had his own failed confirmation hearing as a district judge when he acknowledged a number of remarks opponents portrayed as 'grossly insensitive.'

A Boot to the Head for CBS' Early Show, as they trotted out former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to comment on Sonia Sotamayor's confirmation hearing.

Gonzales, as one of the leading cheerleaders for the Bush Administration's torture policy, should not be sought out for his opinion or expertise on matters judicial.

Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan suggested that Todd Palin needs to 'hold Levi's (Johnston) head underwater until the thrashing stops.'

Gotta love those conservative family values.
