Opposite Day?

Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 3:55 AM

First off, I got rickrolled.

It turns out the site complaining about the game Spore was a complete and utter hoax, ostensibly to show that Atheists are a humorless bunch or something.

The economy is fine. Never mind that Merrill Lynch has sold itself to Bank of America, Lehman Brothers is filing for bankruptcy, Washington Mutual is up against the wall, and AIG is scrambling for cash.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Speaking of failures, let's point out Face the Nation and Bob Schieffer interviewing four women legislators - two Republicans, two Democrats - about Sarah Palin, because Sarah Palin isn't doing anything but hand-picked interviews.

The point is not that Palin must go on the various news programs, but that, in the absence of doing so, you report on her words and prior actions and how they stack up to the facts. You don't interview her by proxy or evade the issues by having experts tell us What It All Means.

So it must be opposite day, as I fell for someone's elaborate prank, the economy is tanking - but we'll be told it's perfectly okay, and Sarah Palin is a lying sack of moose droppings, but plenty of people seem to be buying her non-existant credentials.

Geez, Bob, they could have made ME the GOP Vice Presidential Candidate; I have more life experience than Caribou Barbie does!
