Opinions

Now that Barack Obama has announced his choice of Senator Joe Biden as his running mate, are any of the pundits admitting they were wrong for telling us it was going to be Tim Kaine, Evan Bayh, Kathleen Sebelius, or Hillary Rodham Clinton?

Of course not. But there's plenty of room for them to yammer about how Biden is the right choice, the wrong choice, the smart choice, the dumb choice.

Remember, every time the media - traditional, mainstream, or whatever - starts trotting out experts and analysts, it becomes opinion. I'm not saying those opinions are invalid, but they're not news.

As a result of kicking the referee after a call that cost him the match, Cuba's Angel Matos has been banned for life from all WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) events, along with his coach, Leudis Gonzales. Matos' records at the Beijing Olympics will be erased.

Matos, who had been leading the match before calling a time-out for an injury to his left foot, lost the match when he exceeded the regulation one minute period. But seconds later, Matos unleashes his kick with the same foot he claimed to have injured.

Given that the World Taekwondo Federation governs the competitions, and the Kukkiwon is the certifying authority for black belt status within the Federation, it's possible Matos has also lost any black belt status he held.

Remember how Focus on the Family's Stuart Shepard suggested people pray for rain when Barack Obama is scheduled to give his acceptance speech? And not just a shower, but a torrential downpour just short of biblical proportions?

If we're to judge things by what falls out of the sky, then it's a bad sign that the FOX News broadcast booth was flooded out at the convention center after the emergency sprinklers cut loose ...
