Saving What For Whom?Monday, May. 05, 2008 3:52 AMCNN is apparently becoming the retirement home of choice to former Bush Administration members, with Tony Snow and Frances Fragos Townsend being added to the network's roster. How about making honesty one of the criteria for hiring? Oh, wait - this is the network that also hired Glenn Beck. Never mind. Apparently, if you're against this 'gas tax holiday' idea being floated by John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton, you're an elitist. Strong words from Clinton, who admitted she hadn't pumped gas in years, because her Secret Service detail takes care of those kind of things. Not to mention that the idea of suspending the gas tax doesn't even qualify as a band-aid solution - it's illusory relief that may not even reach the consumer, as the tax is incorporated into the price at the pump, not 'added on' as something that can be 'subtracted' to save money. Oh, gee. Another scandal involving KBR in Iraq. Only this time, it's substandard work that may be electrocuting soldiers. Did President Bush essentially preach Nietzche to the residents of Greensburg, Kansas? Delivering the commencement address for Greensburg High School, Mr. Bush said, "You've seen life at its most difficult. You have emerged stronger from it." That which does not kill you, makes you stronger? The Dallas Stars defeated the San Jose Sharks in 4 OT by a score of 2 to 1, ending the Sharks' playoff bid.
