Changing Stories

Let's check the scoreboard ...

Thursday: Benazir Bhutto was killed by an assassin's bullets. Said assassin then blew himself up. Officials later accuse al-Qaeda of being behind it all.

Friday: Bhutto died from shrapnel hitting her skull.

Friday Afternoon: Interior Ministry Spokesman Javed Iqbal Cheema discounts both previous statements as to the cause of death, and says Bhutto died of a skull fracture, caused when she hit her head upon a handle attached to the sunroof of her limousine while ducking back inside the limousine after the blast.

I can't wait until we start hearing about key evidence being misplaced or destroyed.

John Deady, the co-chair for New Hampshire Veterans for Rudy, gave this awkward testimonial to his candidate's foreign policy expertise.

"He's (Giuliani) got, I believe, the knowledge and the judgment to attack one of the most difficult problems in current history, and that is the rise of the Muslims, and make no mistake about it, this hasn't happened for a thousand years. These people are very dedicated and they're also very, very smart in their own way. We need to keep the feet to the fire and keep pressing these people until we defeat, or chase them back to their caves, or, in other words, get rid of them."

Deady later discounted that his comment implied genocide, but nonetheless stood by his remarks, adding, "I've been very concerned about this Muslim thing for quite awhile. The average American does not know beans about what the Muslims are about. I am talking about the Muslims in general. I don't subscribe to the principle that there are good Muslims and bad Muslims. They're all Muslims."

Speaking of Muslims, Malaysia's government has decreed that only Muslims may use the term 'Allah' to describe God.

One Christian church and the Herald, the newspaper for the Catholic Church in Malaysia, have filed suit against the government, arguing that the term 'Allah' has been used for centuries to describe any God, not just that of Islam. (It apparently appears in their version of the Holy Bible, as well as some children's books.)

How the hell do you enforce a law like that? Have police confiscate and check Bibles? Listen in on people's conversations?
