Christmas Spirit 2007Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 12:41 AMI'm sorry, but the Christians are running amok in the halls of government. Congressman Steve King of Iowa has introduced H.R. 847, calling for Congress to recognize the 'importance of Christmas and the Christian faith,' attesting, among other items, that Christians and Christianity have 'contributed greatly to the development of Western Civilization.' The resolution also states that, 'Christians ... commit themselves living their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible,' and calls upon Congress to 'reject bigotry and persecution directed against Christians both in the United States and worldwide.' Laws governing discrimination on the basis of religious creed are already in place. King's resolution is about sticking it to folks who believe differently, or not as fervently.
