Too Right For The Job?Wednesday, Apr. 05, 2006 01:02 AMShortly after 1 AM this morning, the time was 01:02:03 on 04/05/06. Make of it what you will. Senator George Allen (R-Virginia) thinks Lt. General William G. "Jerry" Boykin is a fine candidate for heading up the Special Operations Command at MacDill AFB in Florida. General Boykin, you may recall, was the gentleman who described the War on Terror in decidedly Christian terms, including seeing omens while examining maps of the Middle East. Sen. Allen acknowledges the general's evangelical views, but believes he is nonetheless the right man for the job. So, Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr, nominal head of the Mahdi army and now potential kingmaker, is a pain in the ass and an obstacle to true democracy in Iraq, but Allen thinks we should appoint our own religious-minded patriot to head up the SOC? Yeah, that makes lots of sense. Much laughter and glee at the Ministry upon learning of FOX News' Chris Wallace trying to nail Sen. Russ Feingold with dismissive attacks on Feingold's Motion to Censure President Bush ... only to discover Feingold wasn't playing. This is just plain disgusting. The deputy press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security has been arrested for using a computer to seduce a child and transmitting harmful materials to a minor. The 'minor,' in this case, turned out to be an undercover sheriff's deputy in Florida. So we've managed to staff DHS with ineffective bureaucrats and pederasts? I don't know about you, but that doesn't exactly make me feel safe.
