Louisiana: The Big Spill

Friday, Jun. 11, 2010 3:45 AM

The trial of former BART police officer Johannes Mehserle, charged with the shooting death of passenger Oscar Grant on January 1, 2009, began yesterday. Mehserle claims he mistakenly drew his sidearm instead of his Taser.

But one key piece of evidence the prosecution is slated to introduce is a photo taken from Oscar Grant's cell phone that shows Mehserle pointing his Taser at Grant. So the question is, if Mehserle had his Taser out, why did he reholster it? What does this say about Mehserle's judgment and command of his faculties?
