Shoots And Misses?

Jaime Escalante, the Los Angeles teacher who inspired the film, 'Stand and Deliver,' has passed away at age 79.

Alaska's Official Quitter, Sarah Palin, is slated to debut a new show on FOX News Channel this week, entitled, 'Real American Stories.'

As opposed to stories about all you FAKE Americans out there.

Senatorial candidate Carly Fiorina is drawing criticism for a campaign letter in which she described Passover as a time where we 'break bread with one another.'

Only Passover is not a leisurely, celebratory meal, featuring 'bread' as we generally think of it. It is a meal, taken in haste before the Israelites fled from Egypt, where the bread was unleavened, and distinctly different from the nice, airy texture of a loaf that has been leavened with yeast and given time to rise.

The Fiorina campaign's response was to explain that they meant all bread, leavened and unleavened.

An excuse that's even lamer than the original gaffe seems to be a standard move for clueless candidates. Having drawn criticism for a 'sniper' ad (in which she placed crosshairs over key Congressional seats and used phrases like 'taking aim'), Sarah Palin tried to explain it away as ... March Madness.

See, because you shoot the ball and aim for the hoop and eliminate the competition ...

Right. Sarah just wanted to shoot some hoops with the gang.
