Idiots, Not Patriots

Bob Cesca over at the Huffington Post has a nice summary of Rep. Steve King's (R-Iowa) hackery to derail the hate crimes bill.

And is FOX News' Sean Hannity preaching armed rebellion against the government? He sure seems to be. (h/t to David Neiwert over at Crooks & Liars)

Never mind that Hannity conveniently overlooks some important facts, such as the hanging of tax collectors was directed at agents of the British Crown - the core of the complaint 'taxation without representation.'

When it came to disputes amongst ourselves, our founding fathers laid the groundwork for rational discourse, by establishing the freedoms of speech, press, religion, and assembly as well as the ability to petition the government for a redress of grievances - all things denied the Colonies under British rule.

Talk of hanging tax collectors and gallows liberty trees is both irresponsible and disrespectful to the ideals of our founding fathers.
