Went to visit Dad for a combination Fathers' Day and small celebration of my parents' 50th Anniversary.

Dad is doing okay, but he's gotten to the point where he may not remember my name (at least, he hasn't used it the last couple of times I've visited). His manual dexterity is greatly reduced - he needed help to remove his jacket and couldn't quite manage the arm/hand movements without coaching. Also, he's eating with his fingers as much as he is with a fork.

And yet, he knew the names of people in photos from the wedding. His recall is somewhat less if you just mention a name from the past.

So the car is at the body shop, slated for inspection/tear down tomorrow. I'll be getting a rental in the meantime, covered by my insurance - with a roughly 70 mile commute (round-trip) and hours that fall outside mass transit options, that was a necessity to have on the policy.
