Doom & Gloom

I have to admit, I'm depressed. I read the headlines, and I wonder not only how we got here, but what it will take before this destructive ideology gets shot down, staked through the heart, and well and truly buried.

Yes, I'm capabale of being an oppressive bastard just like the religious nutjobs praising the End Times. Only I'm honest about it.

And the media needs to get their glasses checked, or stop snorting magic democracy dust. France agreed to the U.S. proposal for a cease-fire (which now goes in front of the entire U.N. Security Council), and news outlets were busy crowing about a major step towards peace.

I'm sitting at my desk thinking, great, now that there's the very real possibility of a call for cessation of hostilities, what will both sides do? Simple they'll up the ante and really go for it. Which is exactly what both Lebanon and Israel did.

I'm disgusted at the blatant fear mongering in a recent article over at MSNBC, with an FBI type proclaiming that Hezbollah could strike inside the United States.

Face it, there are probably countless groups who could strike inside the United States. That's not the issue. What voters have to ask candidates, and consider before they push the button on the fucking tainted Diebold machines, is why we're just now coming to these conclusions.

(Speaking of which, Open Foundating Voting has posted images of the inside of a Diebold machine, with the instructions for circumventing the chipset printed on the goddamn circuit board. And the folks at Black Box Voting report that election officials in Riverside, CA tabulated paper ballots by entering them into the very machines that people distrusted enough to cast their ballots on paper.. It's so much easier to steal candy when fucking retards are minding the store.)

But I digress.

9/11 happened, and nobody bothered to make an assessment of where we were vulnerable, what groups had a presence in America, and how to best negate that influence? Five fucking years ago?

Face it, the Minuteman Project is doing more work to secure our borders than our fucking government. Bush has shown up for a photo opportunity, and that's all.

"We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here," is the slogan that still gets airplay.

I'd feel a lot better about the front door being closed and locked, rather than assuming that because I'm down the street chasing gangbangers, ain't nobody left to slip in and steal my stereo equipment.
