You Will Be Assimilated

President Bush, in promoting his immigration reform ideas, stated that immigration means learning the values and history and language of America.

Thanks for insulting just about everyone in the country, George.

My grandparents were immigrants. They worked hard, and passed on a solid work ethic to my parents, and to me. Education has always been viewed as an opportunity, and we all speak English.

Excuse me. I speak fluent, unaccented English.

And I take umbrage that you, Mr. Bush, seem to think immigrants are a bunch of clueless, uneducated human flotsam that needs to be inculcated into the wonders of American values. It's especially ironic when you're busy flogging the Constitution wholesale.

Of course, this talk about American values include the line, "... one nation under God."

A line that was not deemed necessary for nearly 180 years, and was added not to praise God, but to stick it to the godless commies.

Immigration should not mean people must adopt American monotheism; our Founding Fathers were not of one denomination. Our country is Catholic, Baptist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Protestant, Lutheran, Methodist, and other Christian denominations; but we are also a nation of Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, and more.

Perhaps even more worrisome is this little tidbit.

"We want to I'm going to create I've also signed legislation that created an Office of Citizenship at the Department of Homeland Security to promote knowledge of citizens' rights and responsibilities."

Someone cue Condi Rice doing her Glinda impersonation. "Are you a good citizen or a bad citizen?"

Senator James Inhofe (ROklahoma) declared, "I'm really proud to say that in the recorded history of our family, we've never had a divorce or any kind of homosexual relationship."

Well, bully for you, Jimmy.

Supposedly, this is supposed to be a significant item in the failed debate for a Constitutional Amendment establishing marriage as only being between a man and a woman.

Certainly, divorce won't cease to exist if the amendment were to pass; nor is homosexuality a leading cause of divorce (unless you're in an episode of South Park and your last name is Cruise).

What's next? A proud affirmation that you ain't got no black folks hiding in the family tree?

CNN's Lou Dobbs also has a few choice words on the matter.

And the widows whom conservative harridan Ann Coulter chose to excoriate the other day ... have replied to her accusations with far more dignity than Coulter deserves.

Spot on, Bob. I read Dobbs' article earlier today as well. Love reading your blog.
